15 probiotic foods that promote good gut bacteria

10. Kefir

Kefir is usually found in the dairy section next to yogurt. While it’s often found in the dairy aisle, kefir is actually a healthier option for people who are lactose intolerant. Kefir is known to counteract lactose which causes digestive problems for people who are lactose intolerant. Drinking kefir has been shown to help reduce gas and bloating associated with lactose consumption by 70 percent. Drinking kefir has another added benefit: the bacteria found in the drink colonize the intestines. The bacteria are more likely to heal the gut when they colonize. Kefir is a great alternative to yogurt for those who are lactose-intolerant or dislike the taste. It also provides the same probiotic benefits.
