Flying Fortress
The Flying Fortress was the name of this enormous aircraft. Rumour has it that Boeing named it Flying Fortress because a journalist from the Seattle Times magazine said “Why, it is a flying fortress.” During one of its tests.
The Flying Fortress, developed in the 1930s, was used by the US Air Force to strategically bomb the Germans during World War II. It is believed that it dropped more bombs during World War II than any other US aircraft.
