Twelve Foods You Should Avoid When Eating for Gastritis

12. Acidic foods

Acidic foods cause stomach to irritate and exacerbate pain. You may need to avoid foods that are acidic, such as tomatoes, lemons, citrus fruits and so on, if you have been diagnosed with gastritis. You should also avoid vinegar because it’s acidic and can be harmful to your health.

If you want to avoid gastrointestinal problems, it’s best to eat a healthy diet. Gastritis occurs when people neglect their diet, which causes them to suffer. Acidic foods can cause chest pains, burping and fever. They may also leave a bad taste in your mouth. Avoid foods that cause acid reflux and produce excessive acid.

Gastritis is characterized by increased acid production in the stomach. You should eat more alkaline food in such a condition because it will neutralize your pH level and help maintain your abdomen.
