Nine Responses to What Causes Dry Mouth

7.Specific Foods

There are a variety of foods that can cause your mouth to feel dry for a variety of various reasons. Some will actually leave a dusty residue on the inside of your mouth, while others will cause hormonal changes, and still others will simply absorb all of the saliva in your mouth. This is exemplified by significant quantities of dry bread and potatoes, for instance.

This can also exacerbate an already dry mouth and cause your mouth to become even drier, making it difficult to ingest the carbohydrate clumps. Tough cuts of meat also contribute to this issue.
