Narcolepsy: 14 Signs You Might Not Have Noticed

Narcolepsy: 14 Signs You Might Not Have Noticed

8. Sleep Attacks

Sleep attacks are often thought of as a common symptomof Narcolepsy. Sleep attacks occur when someone is awake, even doing something normal, and then falls asleep suddenly. Sleep attacks are less common than most people think.

Narcolepsy can disrupt the many processes that are required to fall asleep. Sleep attacks may occur in narcoleptics, but they may not be frequent enough to cause a person’s concern. Some people might assume that they are tired or fell asleep because of exhaustion.

Narcolepsy can affect people without causing this symptom. Talk to your doctor if you notice that you’re having sleep attacks. They can confirm or rule out the possibility of narcolepsy. These episodes are dangerous, particularly if you’re driving or at home alone. The underlying cause and symptom can be treated with medication.
