In 2017, excavators dug under Rome to build a metro line. Rome being one of the oldest cities in the world, many interesting things have been found. The builders discovered, for example, the ruins from a luxurious third-century house that was destroyed by fire.
The team also discovered a 1,800 year-old dog skeleton that was likely killed in the fire. The ashes preserved the charred home despite the fire stopping it in its tracks. Experts thought that the home belonged an aristocrat of Celian Hill.
