Jimmy Buffett’s unusual private plane has provided some memorable moments
- Model: HU-16 Albatross Hemisphere Dancer
- Cost of jet: $300,000.
- Net worth: $1 billion
Jimmy Buffett’s collection is a bit different. While others prefer the luxury of their private jets to be as lavish as they can make it, Jimmy Buffett likes something more simple. The singer-songwriter acquired a 1654 HU-16 Albatross, which he named Hemisphere Dancer. What’s the twist? The Coast Guard, Air Force and Navy used to use the flying boats as search-and rescue aircrafts.

Hemisphere Dancer has been involved in dangerous situations. In 1996, Jamaican authorities shot at the private jet because they thought it was carrying drugs. Jimmy revealed that he and Bono were only there for the chicken. The plane was retired by 2003 but Jimmy still keeps it on display.
