18 Foods that raise folate levels

18. Supplements

Folic acid supplements can be used to increase your folate levels, if you are at a low level. These supplements aren’t foods, but they deserve to be included because sometimes you need more folic acids than you can get from your food. A folic Acid Supplement will only contain folic and no other vitamins or minerals.

These supplements are very small. Many multivitamins do contain folate. Make sure you take a multivitamin that contains 400 mcg or more of folic acids. Do not combine a folate supplement and a multivitamin. This could lead to health problems. You should also always consult your doctor about any supplements you take.
