14 Trichomoniasis Facts

5. When do symptoms manifest?

The described symptoms of trichomoniasis may not manifest at all or may be very mild. If you do experience symptoms, they will typically manifest between three days and one month after parasite infection. Given that the symptoms may not manifest at all or may take up to a month to manifest, it is not difficult to understand why this disease is so prevalent. There is a high chance that a person with trich is unaware that they harbor the parasite.

This means that they are likely to engage in sexual activity with their companion or multiple partners, further spreading the disease. Those individuals may infect others as well. Utilizing protection during sexual activity is one of the simplest and most effective methods to prevent the spread of the disease. One-on-one sexual activity reduces the risk of contracting trich and other sexually transmitted diseases.
