14 Trichomoniasis Facts

Trichomoniasis is an infection induced by the trichomonas vaginalis parasite. This condition should not be confounded with trichinosis, which is caused by a parasite found in undercooked meat. Trichomoniasis is not a good condition to have, but it usually does not cause much harm, if any at all.

This is due to the disease being sexually transmitted. Trichomoniasis, on the other hand, is one of the most prevalent and treatable sexually transmitted diseases. The National Institute of Health estimates that more than 120 million individuals are infected with trichomoniasis worldwide.

This number comprises 3,7 million Americans. Women between the ages of 14 and 49 are the most susceptible to contracting this disease and exhibit the most symptoms. Here are some facts about trichomoniasis that you should be aware of.
