14 Reasons for Heel Spurs

  1. Incorrect Footwear

Women enjoy wearing high heels, but the habit can lead to pain and anguish in the future. Those who regularly wear high heels are more likely to develop heel spurs when wearing normal shoes later in life. High heels remove the pressure from the heel and transmit it to the front of the foot.

Women who wear heels professionally or for pleasure will experience differing degrees of discomfort when wearing flat-heeled or kitten-heeled shoes. It is common for heel spurs to develop in the affected area following the transition. Inappropriate footwear can also cause heel spurs in those with flat feet. Athletes with flat feet or those who spend a great deal of time on their feet should utilise arch supports to alleviate pressure along the heel. It is probable that a heel spur will develop without support.
