14 Potential Hip Flexor Pain Causes

9. Osteonecrosis nine

One of the least probable causes of hip flexor discomfort is osteonecrosis or avascular necrosis. This condition occurs when blood flow to the bone is drastically reduced or halted. It is caused by joint trauma, such as a fracture or dislocation.

Alcohol consumption and excessive steroid consumption are also frequently associated with osteonecrosis. Initially, a person with avascular necrosis will experience pain when lifting weights; however, as the condition progresses, the individual will also experience pain when doing nothing. It occurs when the blood supply to a joint is reduced due to injury or dislocation, lipid deposits in the blood vessels, or certain preexisting medical conditions.

You are more likely to develop avascular necrosis if you consume excessive alcohol, use steroids, or take bisphosphonate. Osteonecrosis can be prevented by monitoring steroid consumption, avoiding smocking, and preserving low cholesterol levels.
