12 Causes of Brain Aneurysm: Increasing the Odds

7.Bloodborne Infections

Bad bacteria could infiltrate the body through a wound, scratch, cut, or even a hair follicle and cause blood infections. This type of infection weakens the blood vessels throughout the body and can therefore even cause cerebral aneurysms.

This condition is referred to as microbial arteritis or mycotic aneurysm. This aneurysm would be caused by the infection of the arterial wall by the undesirable and harmful bacteria. Initially, the term’mycotic aneurysm’ only referred to mushroom-shaped aneurysms caused by subacute bacterial endocarditis.

It is now commonly used to classify intracardiac and extracardiac aneurysms that are caused by infections. The only exception is aortitis due to syphilis.
It is essential to understand that mycotic aneurysms are not caused by fungi. However, blood infection can induce aneurysms throughout the body, including in the aorta and brain.
