10 Tips for Expertly Treating Ingrown Toenail

3. Turmeric Treatment

Turmeric is used in traditional medicine and cooking. Curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric, is anti-inflammatory, antibiotic, and antibacterial. Turmeric is a natural remedy that can relieve the pain and swelling associated with an ingrown nail.

Mix a teaspoonful of turmeric powder and a few drops mustard oil for a natural, traditional treatment. Mix the ingredients until they form a paste similar to peanut butter. Apply the mixture to your ingrown nail, cover it with some cotton and wrap it up with a bandage. Repeat the treatment twice or three times per day. Use clean swabs, bandages, or plasters with each treatment. After three to four day, the swelling and infection should subside.

Turmeric’s yellow color will stain your skin and cover everything. If you prefer a modern approach, try an antiseptic with curcumin.
